Pakistan players viciousness E-mail

Pakistan captain Younis Khan has shorn of rumors of the divisions in his team, saying he would resign if a problem existed.

In an interview with the Daily Jang Younis stressed that there are no problems in the Pakistan team and speculation of viciousness in the locker room are distributed by a number of people with vested interests.

Younis has recently been under fire after a 0-2 loss in a three-test series to Sri Lanka, with some critics - including former players - blaming a lack of unity in the team for the bad result.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and ex-Test Pacer Sarfraz Nawaz are convinced that Pakistan lost because some of the senior players deliberately under-performed to Younis' downfall.

Younis, however, rubbished such claims. "People have my players from hero to zero within a time span of only two tests," he said referring to the adulation heaped on his team after their World Twenty20 title win in England, just weeks before the series defeat in Sri Lanka.

"The biggest problem with us is that people do not check the facts before saying such things. They speculate and believe that it's true."

Younis said that there can not be any infighting in his team, because there are no "superstars" in his side. "In my team, including myself, nobody can afford to deliberately inadequate. No player has a permanent place in this time and every one of us has to perform to stay in," he said.

"In the past, Pakistan team used to great players like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Moin Khan and Rashid Latif.

"These players are essential. But in the current team, there are no such superstars."
